Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Since every plant is different and the same plant can thrive under distinct conditions, it is impossible to provide a one-size-fits-all summary for caring for your plant. Instead, please read the brief description of the care instructions provided for each plant on the shop listing. These are our personal growth recommendations and can be modified accordingly. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

  • All our plants are grown in a custom mix of organic soil, perlite, coco-chips, orchid bark, charcoal, worm castings, and vermiculite.

Propagations typically begin in water, sphagnum moss, or stratum and will be moved to soil when the plant matures.

  • Watering frequency depends entirely on the type of plant and what the plant is accustomed to. As a rule of thumb, if the top 2 inches of the plant's media feel dry, it is time to water. We recommend a full soak under the sink to mimic the rainfall that a plant would experience in the wild.

  • All our plants are grown indoors and originate as seedlings or propagations. Many plants are kept in miniature greenhouses to increase ambient temperature and humidity. Generally, a temperature of 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity of 60-90% is acceptable. We recommend keeping your plant in a closed container after receiving it to increase the humidity and prevent shock. The plant can slowly be acclimated to the humidity and temperature of your home.

  • You should repot your plant when its roots outgrow the current pot, water drains too quickly, or the soil is compacted. Generally, repot every 1-2 years during the growing season (spring or early summer).

Plant Care

  • All our plants are shipped from Illinois. Depending on the temperature and weather, a heat pack may be included in the shipment.

  • Our plants can be shipped to all states in the United States EXCEPT Hawaii. Mechandise can be shipped throughout the US and internationally.

  • We do not ship our plants internationally. Shipments are only available in the US.

  • We take careful precautions when shipping plants during cold temperatures. The climate and weather of both the shipping location and destination will be monitored prior to shipment. A 72 hour heat pack and isulation may be provided based on the temperature. It is recommended that plants be received immediately to limit cold exposure when shipping during the winter months.

  • After receiving your plant, inspect it for damage, remove any packaging, and give it a light watering if the soil feels dry. Place it in a spot with appropriate light and let it acclimate for a week before repotting or fertilizing.
